Facials are a great way to reveal fresh skin cells, smooth skin texture, improve the appearance of wrinkles, and hydrate skin. Medical grade facials take this beauty standard one step further. At Advanced Dermatology Center in Wolcott, CT we use these peels, including VI peels and jet peels, to treat specific skin problems.
What Are Medical Grade Facials / Peels?
Just as a spa facial follows the general steps of cleansing, exfoliating, extracting, and hydrating, medical facials do the same. They are highly customizable and safe for all skin types. The end result is skin that feels soft and restored.
While spa facials mainly provide a massage that feels good and helps you relax, medical facials use medical-grade products and tools for greater effect. This allows the treatment to penetrate deeper and provide longer-lasting and more effective results.
How the Process Works
You can expect your medical facial to last about one hour, depending on the exact treatment you’re getting. You may be advised to rest for the remainder of the day. This, again, will reflect the exact procedure performed and the concentration of ingredients used. It is important that you follow all recommendations after the facial, including limiting sun exposure, to keep your skin healthy.
Medical Facial Options
We don’t believe beauty is a one-size-fits-all approach, which is why we provide several facial options for our patients. This allows us to choose the treatment most ideally suited to your skincare needs.
VI Peel Facials
The VI peel promotes cellular turnover in the face, which can in turn help with such skin problems as fine lines, wrinkles, hyperpigmentation, and acne. Patients see a more radiant and youthful complexion within about a week.
Jet Peel Facials
You might think of this as a power wash for your face, designed to restore hydration using serum streams that shoot out of a high-pressure machine. Without causing damage or irritation, this process delivers serums deep below the surface of your skin. A jet peel is beneficial for people with extremely dry, sensitive, and/or acne-prone skin.
Decongesting Acne Facials
The purpose of a decongesting facial is to remove clogged sebum within the pores and eliminate blackheads. Extractions assist with this treatment, which is a painless way to clear acne and improve skin health.
Who Should Get Medical Facials?
If you are pregnant or have a heart condition, medical grade facials should be avoided. It is also important that people with extreme skin sensitivities, allergies, underlying health conditions, or medications discuss these issues with our office. We can then determine if a medical facial is right for you.
